How to Disassemble your Z3.
By Kn100
I know there are a few z3 disassembly guides floating about in this forum, but the pdf ones upset me, and the text ones had no images, so I thought I would make one.
Click the images to make them bigger.
What will i need:
Rizr Z3
(This guide MIGHT apply to to the ROKR Z6 as well)
Torx T5 Screwdriver.
I would recommend getting a T6 as well, because if you round a screw, it can be handy.
Steps
1. Take the back off of your rizr (the thing with the motorola logo on).
2. Then you will need to take out your sim card, memory card (if you have one) and battery.
3. Then you will need to remove all eight screws in your phone.
There are 2 in the back of the tatoo on the back of the screen, and six near the battery on the left and right. Put these in a safe place.
4. Then make sure your phone is slid up, and pull gentally on the front of your phone (where the screen is) and then the screen should come away from the housing, and at the top, you may notice a really thin ribbon cable running to a rectanglish thing. Pull the rectanglish thing out of the housing and then dig the screen out. At the bottom of the housing, you may notice a cable connect to the rizr itself, just dig your fingernail undernieth it and lift it off. then the front should pull off.
This is the ribbon cable
5. Now to remove the Back of the housing.
At the top, where the camera is, pull at the left and the right of the camera. You may notice that at the bottom there is some resistance. Just keep pulling and it will come off. The speaker grille is held on with clips.
6. On the motherboard, there are two more of those ribbon cables. Just get them out by doing the same as before. The first ribbon cable is at the top next to the camera, and the other is to the left, benieth the camera. Dont remove the motherboard just yet.
7. Next, the Sim card assembly needs to come off. its the bit that holds the memory card and the sim card. Just get it out the same way as you got the ribbon cable out.
8. Make sure you have everything shown in the below picture.
9. Next, its time to pry the motherboard out. Try grabbing onto the vibration motor, the big metal thing in the top right of the motherboard, and lift the motherboard out.
10. To get the keypad out (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,*,#), just push one of the keys and it will just fall out.
11. Im not sure how to disassemble any more, so if you know, just tell me and i will add it.
Hope this helps
