Razr v3 Testpoint

From Guides

by "pleasemodmymoto"

Warning: only perform testpoint if you have tried everything else because testpoints can mess up your phone worse than what it is now.

INTRODUCTION

So everyday I see people ask "what is a testpoint" or "how do i do a testpoint?" well im here to answer that. I know there is already a guide, but recently i had to do a testpoint, and that guide barely helped me. Also..it would be very nice to get this guide stickied. Now lets get started

Instructions

1. Stick something in the battery cover such as a screwdriver and pry it open like so:

Then take out the battery

2. Find a Torx 6 bit screwdriver that will fit these 2 screws and remove them:

Hint: If you cant find one, use a small phillips. That worked for me.

3. Use something to slide in the phone to shimmy it open. Sim card works great but use the side that doesnt have the metal part on it. Also DONT USE ANYTHING METAL!

4. Remove the metal tab from the larger side of the phone: (we will be dealing with the smaller side)

5. Ok.. This part is tricky. Use an exacto knife and/or any other tools you feel comfortable using to cut off this shield:

I used an exacto knife and tweezers. Just make sure you dont damage any of the circuitboard. Just remember: you dont have to take off all of the shield. just the part that has a rectangle around it in the picture.

Hint: someone has also claimed a Dremel tool works very well, too! Just be very careful

6. Now take your battery and tape down to your work surface with scotch or duct tape with the metal prongs on the right side, facing toward you. Just make sure it wont slide around.

7. Now unravel a paperclip and get ready to testpoint. Plug in your usb cable to your phone.Attach 1 end of the paperclip to A DIFFERENT shield and hold the other end to the testpoint:

Then push your phone into the battery to start it up(make sure the testpoint is still grounded when you do this). Once RSD Lite recognizes it as either "S Blank Neptune LTE" or "S Flash Neptune LTE" you can remove the testpoint. If you get the little bubble that sais "unrecognized usb device" then check your testpoint. it might have slipped off the testpoint without you knowing.

Hope this helps some peeps

Got all my images from www.modmymoto.com Thanks Wiff for screwdriver name and dramel tool.
